We launched a Supplementary School for children aged 5 to 14 back in October 2002 to build on the informal education programme we provide at our youth centre.
The Al Amaana Supplementary School provides national curriculum support, Arabic language lessons and Islamic studies. Arabic Language is very important and is very close to the “mother tongue” which means they can speak at home with their families.
More than 300 children attend MCWG’s Supplementary school and our staff consists of a headteacher, assistant head, school co-ordinator, 14 teachers, six teaching assistants and 6 Volunteers
A key part of the educational programme is a family fun day for all the students, teachers and volunteers. There are also exciting day trips and a big party at the end of the school year.
It isn’t all about the young people. At MCWG we have plenty of ways to support parents, too.
You can compare notes at one of our regular parents’ coffee mornings. Or attend a Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities course — a parenting programme designed to promote better outcomes for children and Families
We also run mother/daughter projects and mental health first aid courses.
